The Dishwasher
It’s not full yet, there’s still some space
So, you can’t turn it on; that would be a disgrace.
A waste of water; a waste of soap.
Don’t start it now. Nope! Nope! Nope!
I’ll find something small to fill up the spot,
I’ll put in a spoon and the porridge pot.
That didn’t quite do it; now let me think.
I know! I’ll put in the kitchen sink.
But there’s still some space, now how about that.
I’ve got it! I’ll put in the dog and cat.
They both need a bath, that’s for sure
But darn it all, now I can’t shut the door!
Well, I’ll let out the pets and that should help
Besides, the dog was starting to yelp.
The dishwasher’s running and now it’s late.
I’d have some supper, but I can’t find a plate!
Love
Love is not always sugar and spice.
We aren’t always as kind and pleasant and nice
As you’d think we would be to the ones that we love.
But that doesn’t mean we don’t love them.
Mom or Dad might do something you think is unfair,
They might give you time out, make you sit on a chair.
And under your breath you might grumble and gripe,
But that doesn’t mean you don’t love them.
Sometimes we get busy or lazy or mad
Or a friend might say something that makes us feel sad
Our feelings get hurt and we want to fight back
But that doesn’t mean we don’t love them.
But God’s love for us will always be true
Wherever we go and whatever we do
We just have to pray and ask for His help
And that’s because God always loves us.
Do What You Can Do
We can’t take on all the woes of the world,
But in our little corner we can
Speak out against injustice
And the cruelty of man to man
We can’t be a light to everyone,
But we can be a light to a few
We can be there when they need us
And assure them God’s love is true.
We can’t perform any miracles
And that isn’t even our task.
God will take care of the miracles,
All we need to do is ask.
