You know when you are packing to go somewhere and you tell yourself that you will only bring the essentials, and then you end up needing multiple bags, because “the essentials” end up being most of your belongings. I know that feeling all too well, although I have been trying to get better and become more minimalistic in that aspect. And so I have thought about it, what are the things I use the most in my everyday life? Or furthermore, what are things in life that I cannot go without? Here I will share my most useful/favourite things in my everyday life.
First off, is a pair of earbuds or headphones, for the purpose of music. Music is useful for many instances, such as when I am walking to class and when I am doing school work. Overall it is fun to listen to and enjoyable. For this reason, I always have a pair of earbuds or headphones with me so I can listen to music.
Then, when it comes to electronics, my phone and laptop are very essential, especially since I am in school. My laptop, for starters, always has numerous tabs and multiple different pages open. Once an assignment is done, there is always another, or multiple to do at once. My phone is, first of all, an amazing procrastination source, which I tend to take advantage of a lot, but also keeps me connected with others, like my mother, who hears me complain many times per day. To be honest, I wish I could be less reliant on technology, but unfortunately it consumes me frequently. They are, however, essential to my everyday life so I can pass my classes and communicate with my family and friends back home.
Lastly is a drink of some sort, which is usually iced coffee, but it depends. If there is anything I have ever spent the most money on, it is drinks. It is similar to music in a way where it pairs well with living my everyday life. For instance, when I am doing school work, it is nice to have a drink next to me, and to be honest sometimes I cannot focus unless I have one. Also, when I am half asleep from having little to no hours of sleep, a good caffeine boost is nice to have in order to focus. But sometimes, it is just for mere enjoyment. I find great joy in walking the streets of Toronto or even sitting in class with a nice drink. Honestly, it tastes good and is comforting. It also reminds me of when my friends and I used to walk down to the Robins in Kennetcook from school everyday, even in the cold weather, with our warmest layer of clothing being hoodies. That was where my addiction started, it is both a blessing and a curse. They taste amazing, but my wallet hurts.
Overall, I fear that this list has said a lot about me; my addictions include my electronics and spending money on drinks. But honestly, sometimes it is fun to just enjoy yourself. In regards to packing, yes I am bringing my laptop, phone, headphones and earbuds wherever I go, and oftentimes I will get a drink along the way, or even pack stuff to make drinks. Which reminds me, I do not know what I was thinking when I brought a blender to university.
