Typically, I am not the type of person who has “favourite things”. I usually have a collective of things that I favour rather than one or two favourites. Sometimes I wish I did though, have things I prefer over others, like a song or a food, but it is quite hard to choose. I do have a favourite season however, I began to really realize it this year, that the time of year I enjoy the most is late spring. Although, I am not a huge fan of early spring due to all the rain, I do however, love late spring.
This time of year, you can feel the warmth of the sun without it melting you to death, the flowers bloom, even if it's for a short period of time, and wearing bundles of clothing is not necessary. Personally, I prefer a t-shirt or a tank top and pants.
After a long season of immense cold weather and depressing rain, the sky becomes blue and clear and life outdoors is enjoyable. Winter is nice when it actually snows. Here in Nova Scotia, it is mostly rain and muck. However, since I have been driving a lot this year, the snow has become quite annoying as well. I also despise the cold. In late spring it can be pretty hot occasionally, but it is most often that it is not too hot or too cold.
The night time is lovely as well. It is calm and not too chilly, the bugs are not awful, and there are lots of stars. In my opinion, which may be a bit controversial, driving at night can be very relaxing. When there is no one else on the road, and I have great music playing, it is extremely nice.
If there is anything to complain about, it would be the piles of school work I have to do this time of year. Since school is about to close for the year, there are loads of final assignments and exams. Although this time around, I have lucked out and do not have any official exams, instead I had three final essays to do, which took up all of my time instead. After this year, June will basically be a free month for me as I won’t have school this time of year anymore. I will be able to thoroughly enjoy late spring without having to worry about any papers having to be passed in or anything having to be written. Instead I will be worrying about a lot more work and exams in April. But at least I’ll have my time of year free.
I love summer too, the only downside is the bugs and extremely hot weather. The night times are lovely as well, it is warmer and great for a campfire. However, late spring is the most enjoyable for me, it is not extremely hot, but it is warm, the weather is sunny, the environment is pretty, and all you can smell is freshly cut grass, the dew, and the flowers that have bloomed. Overall, this is the season that I am the most happy, when school is coming to an end, of course. Enjoying the aesthetic nature whilst having no more school work to do is the very best.
